5. Zainab is in her 30s. She didn't feel comfortable showing me her metrocard because she's heard how people swipe them like credit cards. She rides the train approximately 2 hours/day and describes the speed at which you have to get into the subway system as "in between. Not too fast and not too slow."
7. Susan works in retail. She keeps her metrocard in a travel purse under her shirt. She did not want to show me or have her picture taken. She works in retail and rides the train at 4am every day from Far Rockaway to Penn Station. After Hurricane Sandy, it took her 4 hours to get to work (each way). She worked, slept and rode the train for seven months of her life. On the train, her favorite thing to do is read scripture. Her favorite passage is PSALMS 83.18. I told her I'd look it up so now I have to. She has had this metrocard for a year. It currently has around $45 on it.
